Helping Families Thrive in Hillingdon
Parenting can be overwhelming, especially in the early years. Some face added challenges like postnatal depression, a child’s illness or disability, personal health issues, isolation, or the demands of multiple births. That’s where we come in.
Home-Start Hillingdon is here for families with young children who need a little extra support. Our trained volunteers visit families at home, offering practical help and a listening ear. Whether it’s sharing parenting tips, getting out to local groups, or simply being there on the tough days, we make a real difference.
Additionally, through our Dad Matters Project, we provide tailored support for fathers, helping them navigate the challenges of parenting, build confidence, and connect with other dads in the community.
How We Help
Every family is different, and so is our support. Our volunteers visit once a week, providing emotional and practical help tailored to each family’s needs.
We focus on:
Children’s wellbeing – Helping parents give their little ones the best possible start in life.
The whole family – Supporting not just parents, but everyone involved in a child’s care.
Community connections – Linking families with local services, groups, and support networks.
Empowerment – Helping parents regain confidence and find their own way forward.
“The support is meant everything without the support I could not have reached where I have. I feel I am moving in the right direction in all aspects of mine and the children’s lives”

Why It Matters
The early years shape a child’s future. With early support, children grow up happier and healthier. By helping families sooner, we prevent bigger crises later. It all starts with a friendly visit.
Part of a Bigger Network
We’re part of Home-Start UK, a national family support network. Independent but guided by their high standards, we manage our own funding to give families the best support.
“The support was extremely helpful. It makes a huge difference to have a sounding board and a voice of reason to navigate a rather difficult journey of parenting with a special ability”
